Meditation: Why and How

September 29, 2016 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Meditation is very practical. It is the cultivation of deep sanity through the art of relaxation, stillness, and vigilance leading to deeper and deeper states of inner knowledge. It affords us the opportunity to take an intimate look at our mind – up close and personal. What is it? How does it function? Where do thoughts come from? Are thoughts “real”? How do they change? How do they create our world?

By learning to meditate, we begin to cultivate the awareness necessary to make wise choices, to create a happy future by thinking and acting wisely. Join Elaine Jackson for this workshop where we will discuss some effective methods for beginning a meditation practice and for overcoming difficulties in an already existing practice – how to persevere when the going gets rough.

This class is for anyone who has an interest in meditation, whether they already have an established practice or are brand new. By maintaining an attitude of childlike wonder, we can always learn something new. When we practice together we learn from each other.
